The Singapore Cricket Club Rugby Section is one of 13 sporting sections that belong to the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC). The SCC is Singapore’s premier sports and social club, established in 1852.

The SCC is the heart of sporting excellence located right in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District. The colonial clubhouse is a heritage building that houses recreational facilities, changing rooms and dining outlets.

The SCC has been part of the Singapore Rugby Community from the very start, the birthplace of the game in Singapore.

Members of the SCC were rumoured to be one of the first to kick a rugby ball on the “Padang” turf. The Padang, field in Malay, has hosted a number of events that have been milestones in not only the club’s history but Singapore’s.

For many years in the early 1900s, the SCC Rugby Section represented the state of Singapore in matches against the Malaysian states. The famous “North vs South” match was a fixture on the Padang for many years.

The SCC Rugby Section is one of the founding clubs of the Singapore Rugby Union, and have contributed a number of players to the Singapore National Team.

The SCC were Singapore Rugby Union Premiership Champions in 2018, adding to a trophy cabinet that includes numerous domestic and international trophies.

The Section currently fields 4 sides that compete in domestic league competitions in Singapore. It also fields a competitive veterans side and runs an under 19 side linked to the SCC Rugby Academy.
